Freescale goes up in the Lighthouse Systems Index

Lighthouse Systems Index - May 2009The biggest gainer this month is the semiconductor designing and manufacturing firm Freescale which has moved up 7 positions. The firm has been named as one of the 2009 World’s Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute. The firm’s improved position in the index also stems from analyst focus on its communication processors which aim to accelerate availability of key communications products based on 45-nm technology. Fujitsu Siemens has also gone up 4 positions this month and is ranked 17th. Analyst focus on Fujitsu Siemens becoming Fujitsu Technology Solutions is the main cause for this spike in its ranking and one can expect the Fujitsu Siemens brand name to drop down the index as analysts stop mentioning the firm by the old name.

Texas Instruments is the only new entrant to the top 25 this month. The firm has ramped up production at the assembly/test facility in the Philippines and remains the no. 1 supplier of application-specific integrated circuits.

The only firm to drop out of the top 25 this month is NCR. The firm was the top gainer last month as it celebrated its 10,000th ‘Intelligent Deposit’ ATM deployment in U.S but has now dropped down 3 positions to the 28th spot. Philips has also dropped down by 3 positions and is ranked 34th this month.
