The most high profile gainer this month is Dell which edged out Intel to claim the number 2 post in this month’s edition of the Lighthouse Systems Index. the firm has been ranked number one in the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) which measures the environmental initiatives of 40 companies in the IT and Telecoms sector. The firm is also moving ahead with ambitious plans to capture the booming Netbook market with new products geared towards young students.
The two top gainers this month are Xerox and Panasonic with each gaining 6 positions this month. Panasonic, the global electronics giant, has reported a massive loss of $4bn for the 2008 financial year and is ranked 14th. Analyst focus on Xerox’s ColorQube 9200 solution has helped the firm improve its score and it is now ranked 16th. Oce which marked 75 years of doing business in Japan is also up 5 positions and is the only new entrant to the top 25 this month.
The biggest loser this month is Acer which has dropped down 6 positions. The firm has joined the Open Handset Alliance and plans to launch Android based smartphones later in the year which is sure to improve its profile in the coming months. Texas Instruments is down 3 positions and is the only firm to drop out of the 25 this month.
