The 2018-19 Analyst Value Survey and 2019 Analyst Firm Awards will be produced by the Analyst Observatory, the research centre at the University of Edinburgh Business School. The Observatory will restructure the survey to reflect the three strongest drivers of value in the 2017-18 survey:

  1. legitimate credibility with the demand-side,
  2. analysts with relevant knowledge and expertise; and
  3. deep, independent insight.

The annual survey was launched in 2001. It remains the only regular survey of the users of analyst and advisory firms. The launch of the annual set of Analyst Firm Awards in 2013 brought it to new prominence. In each of the categories, the Analyst Firm Awards are go-to lists. Market intelligence and marketing communications professionals use it to find solid, objective data about which analyst firms are most valuable in certain market segments.

The 2018-19 Analyst Value Survey will open next week. It will expand from four main areas (Enterprise, Telecoms, Cloud and Policy) to six. The additional categories will be Financial Technology and Media Technology. As in previous years, the team involved in the research will be separate from its commercialization. This ‘Chinese wall’ will be even clearer in future. The Observatory will conduct the research and use the data both in academic journals and reports. Their reports will be sold through commercial partners, including long-time sponsor Kea Company.
