KPMG in, Ovum out: 2017 Cloud Analyst Firm Awards

These 2017 awards have been superceded by the 2018 Services & Cloud Analyst Firm Awards.

The Analyst Firm Awards celebrate the most valuable analysts and advisors on Cloud and other topics. Kea Company has crunched the data from the Analyst Value Survey to find ten firms which, in total, delivered 64% of all the value being delivered in 2017 to people using their insight on cloud solutions. Cloud was, along with Strategy, one of the two award categories where the top ten produced the least value. For outsourcing, for example, the top ten produced 71% of all analyst value.

The 2017 winners

2017’s ten most valuable analyst firms for cloud, in descending order, are:

  1. Gartner
  2. Forrester Research
  3. HfS Research
  4. IDC
  5. Everest Group
  6. KPMG’s performance is especially notable. Neither it nor Deloitte for into the global top ten, but clearly they are delivering a lot of value on cloud.
  7. Pierre Audoin Consultants
  8. NelsonHall
  9. Deloitte
  10. ISG.

What’s missing?

Perhaps the most notable thing about the Cloud awards, however, is what is not there: Ovum. As one of the six most valuable firms globally, Ovum’s relationships with service providers could allow it a stronger position. Sadly, it’s pushed into 11th place for Cloud and fails to pick up this award. 451 Research and Frost & Sullivan also came close.
