When analysts leave, they get hired

As recession edges closer a number of analysts are being tempted by better offers elsewhere. Some of the recent departures in the UK include Ovum’s Eric Woods (who leaves today to join Chris Dines’ new venture) and Bola Rotibi (joining MWD), and Marta Munoz Mendez-Villamil (who is now at IDC). We also heard that Ed Thompson had joined IBM, but not that one: IBM has hired a namesake of the Gartner VP.

Some stay analysts but others join vendors. We’ve seen similar move in the past, most famously with Hyperion, and the trend won’t stop. If one of the analysts your firm tracks is moving on, review our suggestions here.

One more departure from Ovum: Jessica Figueras, who leads the Service Infrastructure practice, is leaving next month.
