Philips gets to the top 25 in the Lighthouse Systems Index

Lighthouse Systems Index - July 2008Philips is the biggest gainer in this month’s edition of the Lighthouse Systems Index. The firm has jumped up 7 positions and is ranked at the 23rd spot. Analyst focus on the outsourcing of LCD TV business to manufacturing and design firms in Asia/Pacific region, has helped it make the jump entering the top 25 this month. The top 5 firms listed in the Systems Index also see a bit of a reshuffle this month. Fujitsu, which has seen its supercomputer systems listed amongst the top 500 machines in the world has gained 2 positions and moved up to the 4th position. Samsung has just opened a $3.5 billion memory wafer plant in Texas, it’s slid down 1 position and is now at the 5th spot.

BenQ, the biggest gainer last month, and Oce, the only entrant to the top 25 last month, have dropped down 5 positions. Incidentally, this decline means that Oce is now once again out of the top 25.
