Dell gets to the second spot in the Lighthouse Systems Index

Lighthouse Systems Index - March 2009Dell is the most high profile mover this month. Rated as one of the top 3 semiconductor consumer it has moved up to the second spot this month. The firm has announced new mini-notebook/netbook to help maintain its sales growth in what is seen as an increasingly challenging environment. Toshiba which has announced the acquisition of Fujitsu’s HDD business has also earned more analyst focus this month and is up 4 positions and is ranked 6th.

BenQ has made the biggest positive jump this month with an improvement of 7 positions. The firm’s Chinese business unit has announced strong performance and appears to be weathering the recession well. Océ which has launched the spectacularly large Océ Arizona 350 XT printer has also moved up 5 positions and is the only new entrant in the top 25 this month.

Fujitsu Siemens is one of the biggest losers this month, returning to normal after the spike of coverage triggered by Fujitsu’s take-over of the joint venture. The firm has been rated as one of the top 5 hardware vendors to the European manufacturing industry. However, the rating has not helped it to maintain its higher position last month; it is down 5 spots in the Lighthouse Systems Index this month. LG, which was also one of the biggest gainers last month, is also down 5 positions and is ranked 19th this month. Seagate has slipped down 2 positions and is the only firm to have dropped out of the top 25 this month.
