Novell which moved up 2 positions is the most high profile gainer. Its SecureLogin solution has been ranked as one of the best in the industry and the resulting focus has helped it to move up to 6th spot in October.
Hyperion gained 6 positions as analysts focus on the result of its acquisition by Oracle. The firm made it to the 25th spot and into the top 25 list for October. Compuware which was ranked as the dominant leader in the mainframe tools market by Gartner also moved up 3 positions and slipped into the top 25. Borland which has been acquired by Micro Focus has also moved up 15 positions in October after dropping down for 2 months.
Among the losers VMware dropped down 2 spots and out of the top 5. The firm has gained some coverage for the integration of its vCenter server with HP Insight Control but that has still not been enough for it to hold onto its position in the Index. Cognos which merged with IBM in 2007 has also dropped down 6 positions. Congnos and Amdocs(-4) are the two firms to drop out of the top 25 in October.
