Verisign leaps up in the Lighthouse Services Index

Lighthouse Services Index - May 2008Verisign is the most prominent gainer of analyst focus this month as it has jumped up 9 positions and is now ranked 17th. The firm has been recognized as the “Best Security Company of the Year“. However, apparently the biggest boost to its ranking has come from a series of research by Gartner on the topic of “Convergent Charging Vendor Selection“. This research series has also helped Convergys to improve its ranking in the Services Index based on this series of research reports by Gartner. It will be interesting to see if Verisign and Convergys manage to keep and retain their improved rankings next month as well. The improved ranking means that Verisign has now entered the top 25 firms listed in the Lighthouse Services Index.

Shell’s $1.4 billion outsourcing award has helped T-Systems improve its rank by 5 positions. The improvement means that T-Systems is now ranked 8th and is the latest entrant in the top 10 of the Lighthouse Services Index.

The biggest decline in ranking this month has been suffered by Siemens Business Services, the former brand name of Siemens IT Solutions. Siemens has recently provided the entire IT&C infrastructure to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad (India) and has also announced a major contract with the BBC. However, none of these announcements has managed to get enough attention from analysts and the brand has dropped down 6 positions. It’s now ranked at the 34th spot.

Dimension Data has also dropped down 5 positions. The firm’s new stake in UAE based Data Processing Systems has yet to result in any improvement in the firm’s profile with the analysts. BT Global Services is the only business that has dropped out of the top 25 this month.
