Salesforce, Unica and UGS rise in Lighthouse Software Index

The most high profile increase in this month’s Lighthouse Software Index is shown by Salesforce.com. The firm, providing CRM on demand, has announced outstanding financial results. Moreover, reports of the firm striking a deal with Google have been confirmed and it is possible that analysis of the deal will likely result in further improvement in the profile of this firm.

mySQL is another firm that has jumped up strongly and has entered the top 25 of the Lighthouse Software Index. The firm has agreed with IBM to port its massively popular open source database to the IBM System i platform thus paving the way for a number of new users (especially SMBs) to deploy applications built using open source technologies.

Other notable risers this month have been Unica, which has been placed in the Leaders Quadrant for Multichannel Campaign Management by Gartner, and UGS, the former EDS business which has just completed its acquisition by Siemens Automation.

The top loser this month has been CRM vendor Aspect Software which lost 10 positions after its massive jump last month and has also dropped out of the top 25 firms in our Software Index. SPSS has also dropped down 7 positions to end up at 38th spot. The firm has been once again positioned as a leading vendor for Data Mining software as it also was last year. Hopefully its launch of Enhanced Predictive Analytics Platform will help to get some more attention from the analysts in the future.
