The biggest gainers this month are BT Global and Convergys with gains of 3 positions each. The glory is more for BT Global as it has claimed the 3rd spot by displacing EDS. The firm has successfully completed its acquisition of the IT services specialist Stemmer and has announced an enhancement in its security monitoring service to protect large enterprise networks. Convergys is the surprise gainer this month. The firm has shown a decline in our regular services index but is the surprise gainer in the outsourcing index. This difference indicates a gain of analyst interest on the outsourcing aspect of the firm while reducing their overall focus on the firm. It incidentally also highlights why Lighthouse has decided to analyse the outsourcing and system integration aspects of IT services market as separate indexes.
Unisys has dropped down 2 positions this month and is now ranked 14th. The firm has announced a number of new outsourcing contracts and has also been nominated the Official IT Services Provider to 2008 Republican National Convention. However, these have failed to help it gain analyst interest this month. BearingPoint which has announced a return to profitability after about 3 years has also lost 2 positions and is now ranked 23rd.
