Microsoft leads the December Software Index

Microsoft retains its much favoured top spot in this month’s Software Index, ahead of Oracle, SAP, CA and Google. Red Hat enters the top ten, pushing Sybase into twelfth position.

MySQL has been very active this month teaming up with NitroSecurity to announce that they will jointly develop a database engine for MySQL based on NitroSecurity’s relational database technology. The British firm Sage posted an unexpected 14 per cent rise in underlying profits which increased its overall share value by five per cent. This is one reason why Sage climbed six places and into the top 25.

Kronos also increased its share of voice by six places following good financial updates and a board decision to extend its stock repurchase program. SeeBeyond and Intuit also were also up seven and six places respectively.

Interwoven and Entrust have managed to cancel their spectacular gains of last month by almost equally spectacular falls this month. Interwoven has fallen 10 places which means that is two places lower than the month before las. Entrust has dropped seven places. Invensys, Epicor and Autonomy are also down.
