The services firm with the biggest increase in profile in worldwide analyst research has been a remarkable year on year rise of 9 positions in the Lighthouse Services Index: Orange Business Services. The business previously known as Equant has been ranked as a leader in the Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for 2006 Western European Mobile Service Providers and has been coming up with new services and collaborations to keep analysts interested in the firm.
However, the real winner is Getronics. It has shown a lot of see-saw movement in the past but it has shown an overall increase of 7 positions. The firm had been one of the biggest losers in March 2007 and news that the firm may be taken over had resulted in an increase in its profile in April 2007.
Those are the findings from this month’s analysis of how firms listed in the Lighthouse Services Index have fared. This month, we are showing change in the past year. The graph on the right charts the course of these firms as they have risen or fallen, with the risers being listed above the red line and vice versa.
LogicaCMG which has been authorized to setup what is Asia’s first carbon credit exchange has also shown positive year on year growth as have Atos Origin and Cognizant. Interestingly, most of the fast improving firms are headquarted in Europe, while Cognizant is a US-listed Indian firm. Since our analysis reflects the heavy weight of US-headquartered analyst firms, that shows that US services firms are being outmaneuvered in their domestic market.
HP Services has shown the biggest year on year decline in profile in analyst research, partly because that brand had an upward spike this time last year. Even so, the business has dropped 15 spots and is an even faster faller than Equant, a brand that no longer exists.
