Ericsson gets to the 3rd spot in the Lighthouse Telecoms Index

Lighthouse Telecoms Index - May 2008Ericsson and BT are the two most high profile gainers of analyst focus this month. Ericsson notched up 2 positions and is now at the 3rd spot. The fact that Ericsson CEO Carl-Henric Svanberg is enthusiastic about future growth is sure to help keep analyst focus on the firm. BT which has announced its acquisition of Wire One, one of the leading providers of videoconferencing solutions in the United States, has also gained 3 spots and is now ranked at 4th position.

Alltel has shown an astonishing jump of 13 positions, now ranked at the 26th spot. TeliaSonera, which has dramatically increased its broadband coverage in Finland, has also gained 11 positions. The increase has helped the firm enter the top 25 this month. The other entrant to the top 25 this month is France Telecom which has gained 6 positions and is now ranked at the 22nd spot.

The biggest decline in position this month is by the firms Enterasys and Foundry Networks. Motorola, which had gained the 3rd spot last month based on news of the firm splitting into 2 separate identities, has also dropped down 5 positions and is now ranked at the 8th spot. D-Link and ZTE have also dropped by 5 and 6 positions respectively and are out of the top 25 this month.
