Red Hat moves up in the Lighthouse Software Index

Lighthouse Software Index - June 2009The most high profile gainer this month is Red Hat which is up 3 positions and is ranked 11th this month. The firm’s enterprise Linux has been recognized as one of the most innovative product by Network Products Guide. Moreover, its challenge to Microsoft is a sign of its growing confidence in its products and services. Informatica is also up 6 positions this month. Analysts focus on the news of its acquisition of Applimation has helped improve its score and it is ranked 15th this month.

Borland which has been acquired by Micro Focus is one of the top gainers this month. Focus on the acquisition and the result on Micro Focus’s product line has helped the firm move up 11 spots and it is now ranked 34th.

The biggest drop this month is in the ranking of Mercury which is down 10 ranks. It continues to lose ground after its acquisition by HP as analysts make fewer mention of its brand name. BEA is another firm which is losing its ranking after its acquisition and has gone down 8 positions this month. mySQL, which was up last month due to news of Sun’s acquisition by Oracle, has also dropped down and is ranked 17th this month.
