    ByDuncan Chapple June 13, 2005March 23, 2008

Ovum Consulting will be one topic of interest to Ovum shareholders at its AGM later this month. The firm’s accounts make interesting reading. Despite suffering from the weak US dollar, Ovum’s orders grew from £14m to £16m (US $29m) over the last year. Much of this growth was in its consultancy business, whose order book…

Yahoo’s PR team discovers another way to get AR wrong

    ByDuncan Chapple April 26, 2005March 23, 2008

Charlene Li’s Blog: Pending Yahoo! personalized search announcement is worth reading. I’ve followed the ‘paper trail’ from Yahoo’s PR agency, and could not resist reading this blog and making a comment. It’s interesting that, for some, analysts are simply there to generate good copy rather than direct influencers one should not manipulate.

    ByDuncan Chapple April 26, 2005March 29, 2020

    ByDuncan Chapple January 28, 2005September 2, 2014

This is an article I mentioned in a workshop this week, giving IDB’s view of issues confronted by Oracle and the analysts facing it. Fascinating!

    Analysts: a $15 billion market?

    ByDuncan Chapple January 26, 2005May 28, 2015

Pleon says that Decision making is not getting any easier – Analysts help buyers make a vendor or product selection. An interesting comment, from research by Darwin, that analysts sales are around $15 billion. That seems a little high to some maybe, but certainly reflects one reality: some vendors act as if Gartner is the…

Former AR leader becomes Vocent CEO

    ByDuncan Chapple January 18, 2005March 23, 2008

We read that Vocent Appoints Jeff Scheel as CEO and Secures Additional Financing. CRM vendor Vocent has appointed a leading sales and marketing guru from Siebel as its CEO. No news there, surely. But Jeff Scheel led Siebel’s analyst relations work, before progressing to more senior roles in the CRM giant. That’s one more rung…

    Datamonitor buys Butler

    ByDuncan Chapple January 5, 2005March 23, 2008

Datamonitor – Corporate Announcements: After the recent purchase of META by Gartner, Datamonitor (which has bought Computerwire) announced the purchase of Butler Group. Strategically, this is interesting. While Datamonitor is closer to Computerwire’s core business, Butler is a little further away. It is more focussed and more reliant on a cadre of top managers.
